Who am I?

Storm and Jome TaliferoI get a lot of emails from people all over the world thanking Jinjee and I for The Garden Diet Website.

It is not a commercial website in that it was not set up to make money. It was set up to give people information they would need to go one hundred percent raw and stay raw over a long period of time.

In order to be a long term raw vegan you need to have a really balanced diet plan, not just a few tasty raw vegan recipes and desserts.

But what really happens when you go raw long term? The closest that can come to describing it after forty years is an awakening.

You slow the aging process down almost to a stand-still, you don’t put on the almost unavoidable thirty or forty pounds around the middle, and time in general just seems to have a much lighter touch.

I have a ton of theories about what happens to your nervous system when it is free of trans fatty acids and how clear you feel when you are not storing pounds of waste matter in your colon year after year.

But if I were to try to sum it up in a few words I would say that the overall impression that you are left with after twenty or thirty years of being a long term raw vegan is that you become really clear.

I’m now sixty two years old. I have been doing the raw vegan diet for forty years and in many ways I feel like I’m just starting out.

I spend a lot of time trying to decide just what I want to do in life. As a raw food teacher it is really hard to make enough money to totally take care of such a large family.

I shy away from the term “healer”. I have never healed anybody. I have showed a lot of people how to heal themselves by using the raw vegan diet. But it is not anything that I can really claim credit for.

It is not at all like Jesus placing his hands upon a blind person and then they can see. It is more like starting someone on a path by giving them a little information about a concept and then they do a lot of their own research and through eating better they come to feel better.

But it is not anything that one can charge for like you could if you were a surgeon doing open heart surgery. Imagine living in a country where the number one killer is heart disease and you perform a six hour operation to clear blocked arteries and you get paid over one hundred thousand dollars an operation. Just think of how rich you could become.

Whereas on the other hand I explain in great depth how by adopting a plant based diet of raw organic food you can have such a high level of health until you never have to have triple by-pass surgery.

I have heard that when you have that procedure that by your blood having to be pumped by a machine there is a little lapse time-wise of oxygen getting to the brain that results in mild brain damage.

Between the two ways of dealing with the health of your heart I think that the better way is a raw plant based diet.

But even though you as a raw vegan teacher might have the better product you will never make even close in a whole year to what a heart surgeon makes in one week.

So even though I get hundreds of testimonials from people with lots of chronic conditions that are getting major benefits from the raw vegan diet it does not translate into a viable income.

I thought that one way to deal with this would be to go back to school and become a doctor. I have the energy to do that.

I would be seventy when I completed my studies and then I could really make a huge contribution to the medical field. But without a medical degree, as a new age type of healer I feel very limited in what I can accomplish.

The other thing that I could do would be to go back to school and finish my studies as an architect. I already have two years of studies that can be applied and I could have my degree in two years. I could then specialize in sustainable green building which would also allow me to make a huge contribution to the next generation.

But it would mean that all the years of study and research that I have spent on learning and making breakthroughs in the raw diet as it relates to health would be stillborn, as far as creating a diet system like the Atkins diet which is a four hundred million dollar a year diet which really doesn’t even work that well.

The average person doing the Atkins Diet for a whole year doesn’t even lose five pounds by the end of the year. They lose a lot of weight in the beginning because they become dehydrated.

Then still thinking along the same lines I thought what if I persued my childhood dream of becoming an animator. But not just an animator – - what if I created my own full length feature animated film.

Storm Talifero Animation

At first just the thought was overwhelming. I actually studied computer and traditional animation for four years in college and I thought that this could be the big energy that I have been looking for. Sometimes we need a big challenge to bring out the best in us.

So moving right along I launched a funding campaign on indiegogo a couple of weeks ago with a fully developed animation project concept. I wanted to raise enough money to develop this project via computer animation or CGI.

Although I don’t think we’ll reach our fund-raising goal, a lot of the people who did contribute left such inspiring comments until I felt on the soul level like this is something that I should do.

Taking that thought one step further I came to realize that I probably won’t have enough money to create a computer animation but that I could do a hand-drawn animation that would be in many ways be much more rewarding to me and much more personal.

I had the thought that if what you want to accomplish in life is dependent upon other people saying yes, then what happens if they say no?

I get up each morning at 4:00 am. I train hard for two solid hours using three different systems. Added to this is a special series of hand excercises – I do push ups on my finger tips, I do six hundred hand grips, and I jump rope for fifteen minutes in sessions of five minutes each.

Part of the reason being if you are going to do hand drawings then you have to be able to feel your entire body. At no point in the last ten years has being a raw vegan been more helpful to me than now.

It seems to be giving me the mental ability to focus on very vague ideas and pull them into crystal clarity.

Each day I wake up totally excited about what I will accomplish this day and what breakthroughs I will make. As soon as I decided to do this huge sum-total of my life’s work I felt twenty five years younger.

Jinjee is totally behind me; we are composing the sound-track together and the kids are also helping since there is so much to do.

Jome who now at the age of fifteen is a sought after computer game programmer is working with me to create a quest game around this project.

The only real problem that I have with this project is why didn’t I start sooner!

We currently have a film short with an original sound track of the project up that we will be entering in film festivals. You can check it out at:

    Hello Storm

I love your drawings. I am a writer (children and young adults) and just drool in front of your illustrations :) Have you thought about illustrating for books? To do cover pages?

I wish I has money for you to ilustrate my books.

All the best of the best for your project

    Thank you for sharing

  2. I think what you and your family are doing is great. If you did become a doctor you would never survive because they don’t do anything to make people well. There is no money in the cure. Maybe there is hope in functional medicine. I am hearing good things with that. But traditional, allopathic medicine. No way. I went to x-ray tech school in my 20′s thinking I was going to be part of the healing process. WRONG.I never worked as a tech. Instead I became a liscensed holistic esthetician, and massage therapist. I also have not gotten rich from my vocation, but you know I feel I have made a positive impact in the world in some small way. And I love what I do.
I want to expand my practice to include detox therapy which will include raw foods, So I will be signing up for the 28 day raw transition after the holidays. I like how your Garden diet isn’t about selling people all kinds of supplements and gadgets. Good luck with your wonderful project, have faith and God Bless!!
